Cybersecurity – What does it mean to you?

Posted on March 17, 2017

Cybersecurity is a very broad term as it means different things to different people. What is undisputed is organisations and individuals alike need to assess its meaning for themselves and then harness it into their very DNA.

“Everything that is digital is physically dependent

and everything that is physical is becoming digitally vulnerable”

The impact of Cybersecurity on our private lives and an organization’s operational practices and business objectives cannot be overestimated. To not think Cybersecurity first is going to invite the modern equivalent of the old seatbelt advert used to promote car safety in the UK – ‘Clunk-Click every trip’ – it accompanied widespread roadside fines following limited regulatory adherence. The consequence reaching for a seatbelt is instinct now, but it wasn’t to start with. Similarly, Cybersecurity, are we going to have to wait to be regulated into what should be a basic modern reflex both?
