I am running Windows 8 on my desktop. I too had installed Skype from the Ap store ; for Windows 8. (Is it my imagination, or is Skype getting worse with each new release?)
Of course a\I am super annoyed that I cannot change logins. A preposterous release decision, this, and I guess I'm even more vehement that this behaviour is not overtly disclosed when provided the initial option to login to Windows 8 with a MS account.

lukeNow it seems that the Skype website prompts you to download the Windows 8 version. But at the bottom of the page it allows you to select the desktop version. I confirm that the desktop version provides the option to login with my MS account, or, some other account. Phew.
